Can We Talk About Feminine Hygiene

It’s February and that means our Mother Nature Gift Club begins! We started this club to provide young women with the supplies they need during menstruation. So often young women go without the basics during this time causing health issues. Please help us spread the importance of this often-overlooked issue by donating to our Mother Nature Gift Club. We will be partnering with New Hope Family Services through the end of March for this collection. We will also accept donations via Amazon. Coordinated drop offs to our Rise Above Poverty office can be made by appointments only. Thank you for helping us help other young women in the community.

Another hero in our midst!

Just like everyone else we have had to make adjustments this year at Rise Above Poverty. One of the adjustments is connecting with our schools during COVID. With the district limiting entrance to non-essential staff we haven’t been in contact with our usual number of schools. Fortunately, we work with some awesome people who continue to find ways to ensure our students have the things they need although they are at home. One of those heroes is Lynette from H.W. Smith Pre-k -8 school. Today, we were able to donate 200 pairs of socks, 140 pairs of new underwear, 50 t-shirts, 40 sticks of deodorant, and 60 toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste.

Be A King today!

Today is not a day off, but a day to serve and encourage others in our communities. As we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. let’s follow his example to fight injustice anywhere so others can experience justice, dignity, and equality in our world.
